Special select

Hi Eric
Just a question – How is Edit > Special select supposed to work?
In a drawing with rectangles, ovals, polygons and lines both as separate objects differently coloured, and grouped:
If I select Some > Group: nothing selects
If I select Some > Group > Pen color Red: nothing selects
If I select Some > Group, Line > Pen colour Blue: just the blue line selects
If I select Some > Group, Line, Oval, Polygon, Rectangle > Pen colour Red: all the groups select, regardless of pen colour, plus the red oval.
I can't for example select one single group of red objects, or indeed all groups of red objets. Nor can I select any grouped objects, unless I specify what they are made of (lines, rectangles etc), in which case it also selects non-grouped lines, rectangles etc.
