Snapping topics...

Post by Caddy »

Bonjour Eric

There is another feature that would be nice to have it. It's not my idea but I know the feature from other CAD and that can helps to create sketches in a very fast way.

Imagine you want to move an object to a certain location in your drawing. May be you measure it and move it by the edit panel.

Look at here: I would create 2 help lines (horizontal and vertical) each in a certain distance to a border or something else. This can be done by "Parallels..." for example. The applications needs to be equipped with a new button "Snap to geometry" before and you activate this feature... the rest is easy and perfect.

Bonjour Eric

For you and all other:
Moving Objects.png
Moving Objects.png (16.99 KiB) Viewed 6656 times
As an example: there are existing two objects (rectangles). I want to move a third object - the red rectangle - to a position defined by two dotted lines.

You can do it by the "Align feature" already. <-- This is ok.

But I know from another app a feature called "snap to geometry". In my case the two dotted lines has to seen as the "geometry". That's all.

Such a feature allows to create a "quick&dirty" sketch very fast but accurate.

Greeting from Germany.

Bonjour Hubert,

This feature exists already.

Take the red rectangle at the upper-left corner without select it before (if not modify it instead of move it)
And without release the mouse,
Move it at the first attraction point that you want, then at the second
The points are now stored as alignment points.
Continue to move the red rectangle and you will have the attraction that you want.
Note that the cursor change when the attraction is detected.

RealCADD remembers the last 3 points of attraction.
Little grey squares show them.

Is that what you want?

Bonjour Eric

Indeed. Following your description results exactly in that what I want. The way to manipulate it's a little bit troublesome. Ok, I think I need some exercises to meet exactly the corner. ;-)

Thank you

Hubert
